Last Tuesday was Alex Jeffreys third coaching session titled “Marketing Mafia Money”. He covered learning from failures, using social proof and getting over the writer’s block. These are the main points I learned:
1. When you fall get back up and RUN
Failures and mistakes are an inevitable part of life and important milestones in the path to success. Every time we make a mistake we learn what doesn’t work so it gets us closer to knowing what does work.
All the people on earth (and mars) have successes and failures, the only difference between them is the quantity and ratio. To end up on top we need to learn not only from our mistakes but from other people’s mistakes. That’s what will give us an edge that will allow us to become more successful in a shorter time (and it’s also the reason why it’s important to have a mentor).
Just like a baby that gets back up every time he/she falls as he/she learns to walk, every time we fall we have to get back up and run (not crawl!).
2. The best type of proof is social
If you pass by two pizza shops, one looks nicer and one has 30 waiting outside to get in, which one will you go to?. The answer is pretty obvious since we all believe social proof more than anything else.
We have to leverage that power for our business by positioning ourselves as a leader. The best way to do it is by using our blog and it’s comment feature.
A great example of this can be seen on Alex’s blog where he has 348 comments asking him to write his Guru’s Dream report. Anyone who sees that will be thinking “wow this guy must be a real expert, I would WANT to pay him to teach me”.
You might think that it’s only possible for someone who already is a leader like Alex but Dean Holland (and soon me
) proves that anyone can do it. Dean got around 30 comments asking him to write his report about blog creation. That might not look like much compared to Alex but it’s amazing if you take into account that he started only a few weeks ago.
Once we start getting that social proof and position ourselves in the right place we won’t even need to sell to people because they’ll be running after us with their money.
3. Start writing now
We live in the information age and the way to make money is to provide valuable information. The main way to provide information is by writing, so to make money we gotta’ write. Writing can sometimes be hard but once you get into the right mode it just starts flowing.
Alex mentioned that he started with a PLR product (Private label rights – a product that you can modify, rebrand and resell) but didn’t really make much money till he heavily modified it. There’s no shortcuts, we need to sit down and start writing great unique content.
This post actually took me almost 1 hour to write (including 5 visits to facebook
) but I didn’t let myself move till I finished it. That’s how badly I want to provide value to you my dear readers…
And to end here is another great sentence Alex said: Cash is flowing online, you just have to understand how it flows.
Did I miss anything?
(feel free to give me some social proof and motivation to keep on by posting some nice comments
)
have a blockage free day,
Nadav
P.S. Do you think I used to many emoticons in this post? I was in a cheerful mood…

Just a quick profit update: 8 people signed up to Aweber through my blog, which means I’m making a monthly recurring commission of $30.40!

All I did was write two posts about list building with my Aweber affiliate link. The only promotion I did for blog was post a few comments on other blogs. This is powerful!
have a focused day,

I recently heard one of the internet marketing guru’s (I can’t remember which one) talking about how he used to have offers on his confirmation page but he now uses it to show people how to confirm their email. He said that he was losing almost %25 of the people that opted-in to his list because they didn’t confirm their email.
The first thing I thought when I heard that is “why should I require my visitors to confirm their email if it causes me to lose some of them?”. After a little research I came to the pretty obvious answer: if you don’t require email confirmation the visitor can enter any email they want even if it isn’t real. This results in you having junk email addresses in your list and a lower quality list overall.
I’m using Aweber to build my list so I logged into my account to check what the available settings regarding email confirmation are. I found out that they call it “Verified Opt-In” and that it is turned on by default. They have a default confirmation page that’s very basic and tells the visitor to confirm their email.
After some digging I figured out how to set it to a custom page:
1. Log into Aweber, go to the “List Settings” tab, click “Web Form” and then click the name of the web form you’re using.
2. In the “Thank You Page” box, instead of the default one enter the address of your custom confirmation page, click “Next” and then “Save”.
3. To send your visitors to your product download page go to the “List Settings” tab, click “Verified Opt-In”, in the “Confirmation Success Page” box enter the address of your product page and click “Save” (while you there you should also improve your confirmation email).
Now subscribers won’t get to your product download page until they confirmed their email.
So following the guru’s advice I created a page showing how to confirm with a screenshot of my confirmation email to make it even more effective:

It looks much more profession and is much more effective when you have a custom confirmation page and don’t use Aweber’s default one.
For Alex’s coaching students:
Since we all have the same list building platform everyone can use my confirmation page. Click here to download it, inside the zip file (you can open it with 7-zip) you’ll find a html file and an image file. If you want to you can change the image to your own confirmation email (to take an image of your screen press “PrtScn” on your keyboard, paste it into Microsoft Paint and save it as a jpg). Upload the files to your hosting account and change the settings in your Aweber account (as explained earlier in this post).
If you need help leave a comment and I’ll do my best to help you.
Have a productive day,

Last Tuesday was Alex Jeffreys second coaching session titled “Profit Pulling Platform”. He covered mindset stuff, the different ways of making money, list building and outsourcing. These are the main points I learned:
1. Keep on top of being on top
We gotta stay on top by always being a step ahead of everyone else. We need to keep up with all the latest ideas and always work on improving our business.
A great way to learn is by following how successful people are selling, we can do that by opting-in to all the successful marketer’s lists and pay attention to how they’re sell (not what they’re selling). I have a special email address that I use to sign up to lists and read the promotions that are sent.
Here’s a really helpful sentence Alex said: Winning means being unafraid to lose.
2. The money is in the list
Everyone interested in internet marketing has probably heard this sentence a million times but most never put it in to action. A mailing list should be at the base of every online business, it allows you to get buyers to your products and to other products you promote.
We can’t just sign people up to our list and start blasting them with promotions. We need to build a relationship with our list by providing free value so that when we send a promotion they know it’s a good product and will think of buying it. We need to try to take the people on our list from suspect to prospect, prospect to customer, and customer to client.
3. Time is money
Our time is worth money and some things just aren’t worth our time. We need to set a value on each hour of our time and anything that’s under that should be outsourced even if we don’t have lots of money right now. Our time should be used working on the things that we will gain the most from and not the small technical details. There’s lots of great sites where you can post a project for free and millions of professionals from around the world can bid on it (the top site is elance.com). The prices are much lower than what you would expect.
Cheers mates (an expression I learned from my trip to Australia),

Just 10 days from signing up to Alex’s coaching and starting this blog I made my first money online!
In my previous post I outlined the steps I took to build my first opt-in page and linked to Hostgator with my affiliate link. Someone purchased hosting through my link and I made $50 in commission:

It’s still pending because Hostgator holds on to it for 60 days to prevent fraud. My commission can grow up to $125 depending how long the customer keeps his/her hosting account.
I’m really excited and can’t wait for what will come next…
UPDATE: I made another hosting sale – my commission is up to $100!

As you know “The Money Is In The List” and today I’m starting to build my first list at http://www.profitpullinglist.com!. I’m giving away a free report about how Alex Jeffreys built his profitable mailing list and how you can too.
These are the steps I did and you can do too to start building your list:
- Get or create something to give away as “ethical bribe” to make people opt-in to your list
- Buy a hosting account and domain name related to the “bribe” your giving away
- Buy a Aweber account to manage your list
- Create a squeeze page that convinces people to opt-in to your list and add the Aweber code to it
- Setup Google Analytics to on your pages so you can track your conversion rates
- Promote your squeeze page and watch the subscribers pile up (Just started that, I’ll keep you posted)
The final steps are creating a “relationship” with your list, promoting things to them and making $$$… But I’m not there yet so I can’t tell you about that.
I’m going to post video’s showing how I did those steps and how you can do it too soon..
If you need help with any of the steps leave a comment and I’ll do my best to help you.
have a cool day,

Wordpress comes with many features out of the box but there are still important things that are missing. That’s where Wordpress Plugins come in. Plugins are basically files programmed by people that can add funcationality to your blog. Usually you need to download each plugin and then upload it to your hosting account to install it but there’s a much faster and easier way…
Plugin Manager is a plugin that allows you to install any plugin in 5 seconds. All you need to do is install Plugin Manager the regular way (use FTP to upload it to the site/wp-content/plugins, if you don’t how to use FTP stay tuned becuase I’ll upload a video about it soon, if you need urgent help leave a comment). After you install it a new button will appear in your Wordpress dashboard “Plugin Manager”. When you click it you can browse or search through all the plugins and install the ones you like. When you see a plugin you want to install you just need to click “Download” and then “Activate” and the plugin is added.
Here are my top 6 plugins:
All in One SEO Pack – Optimizes your blog’s titles, keywords pages and more for the search engines.
ShareThis – Adds a button at the end of each post that helps your visitors to share and submit your posts to social bookmarking sites.
Google Analytics for WordPress – Adds Google Analytics code to all of the pages on your blog so you can track all your stats with Google’s great free tool.
Google XML Sitemaps – Generates a sitemap of your blog which helps it get indexed and ranked by all the major search engines.
Popularity Contest – Ranks your posts by popularity (views and comments) and can display a list of your most popular posts.
Wordpress Automatic Upgrade – Allows you to automaticlly upgrade your Wordpress installation to the latest version every time a new one comes out.
If you needs help with Wordpress, FTP, hosting, domains or other technical stuff feel free to leave a comment or email me (journey @ nsaltsman .com, remove the spaces), I’ll be happy to help!
Have a fun day,

What oil rigs and traffic have in common
by Nadav on December 24, 2008
Last Thursday was Alex Jeffreys fourth coaching session titled “Social Media Money”. He covered the concept of oil rig hoping for traffic:
The best place to fish in the ocean is near man made structures like oil rigs. That’s because they attract little fish which attract bigger fish which attract even bigger fish and so on till even sharks swim around there.
The same concept can be applied to your blog. Think of every blog as an oil rig and visitors as fish. You need to start attrating a small amount of visitors which will spread the word and attract more visitors and so on.
One of the best ways to attract visitors is by fishing them from other “oil rigs”. You can do that by commenting on other blogs. When people visit them they will read your comment and click the link to visit your blog. Make sure that your comment adds value or it will just be spamming. Alex calls this “Oil Rig Hoping”.
have a fishy day,
Nadav
